Fashion by designer Mary Katrantzou

OK, I am not into fashion at all. My official uniform for most of the year is a worn out t-shirt, cargo shorts and my Teva sandals.
However I love these dresses by designer Mary Katrantzou from her Spring 2011 collection "This Is Not A Room". Each features an architectural perspective on the front.

BRIZO "fashion week"

Much going on at Brizo fashion week. See more at http://www.facebook.com/brizofaucet#!/brizofaucet

Lots of people blogging and photo sharing.

Kitchen Irons -handcrafted ironwork-

Was looking online for a utensil rail and came across this English fabricator. English country has a very different look than American country which tends to look colonial.

Love the hanging pot rack with the criss-cross pattern and rod chains.

Great stuff here. Don’t know if they sell to the U.S. market or not.

Richard Bock /F.L. Wright Sculpture up for auction

Richard Bock was a close friend of Frank Lloyd Wright's during Wright's Oak Park years. One of Bock's best works is the sculpture "Spirit of Mercury" he and Wright did for the City National Bank in Mason City Iowa.

A new casting of the sculpture is up for auction to support restoration of the hotel attached to the bank.

(I've also included a photo of Bock's best known piece "Flower in the Crannied Wall" from the Dana Thomas house in Springfield Illinois.)

The Strange Folk Festival O'Fallon Illinois

One of my don't miss art shows of the year. Always great music and food. Lots of offbeat art at reasonable prices. If you are anywhere near St. Louis on September 25-26 check it out.
